In Defence of Blogging

There are lazy people, and then there are lazy people. I happen to be in the latter category. I am not ashamed about it- some are born musicians, or athletes, or politicians, or what not; I was born  lazy. I honed my skills in school and college, dozing off on grassy fields and in boring classrooms, and after years of single-minded devotion to the art, I have attained skills that would make you green with envy. So, you see, I have time, and lots of it, that I have no idea how to spend. Of course, one can sleep, and The Wife claims to have audio-visual evidence that I am no insomniac, but there is a limit to that. There are other ways too- ruminating about the gross moral depravity of the human kind, for instance- but they are serious matters, and a light-hearted soul can only think about them for so long. So, I am forced into this perpetual ritual of inventing new ways to keep myself busy, and this is yet another attempt at finding a solution that will last a while. I will write about myself and the people I know- in the backwaters of Bengal to the hallowed hallways of The Institute, and all that came in between; about life, and culture, and food, and music as I understand them; about my distant country, and the global village; about anything I wish to say and you care to listen. I hope you enjoy it, for if you do not, I have to start inventing again, and as you can imagine, having done so for twenty something years, finding new ideas is becoming increasingly challenging.
